Join us Thursday, January 19th from 5 - 8pm for the opening reception of our upcoming exhibition in the Main Gallery featuring new work from Morgan Slade.
Morgan Slade is both an integral part of Quirk Hotel Richmond and one of Quirk Gallery’s represented artists. Slade will be joining us in the Main Gallery to present his solo show, French Exit.
French Exit: A hasty exit made without saying farewells to anybody.
“A somewhat innocuous act of not wanting to overextend pleasantries, seemed like an apt topic for a show that was made under a pressured timeline, but more questions started to arise regarding existence in general. What would be the exit strategy, given a finite amount of time to still exist? Does it have its own etiquette? Has extinction in general become a ‘now you see it, now you don’t’ scenario of fantastical realism? Do we have to say goodbye when we leave the party?”
This series employs the computer as a tool. Images are layered, deconstructed, appropriated and reinterpreted to create a dense interplay between memory, time, form, haste, context and emotion.
French Exit will open Thursday, January 19th at Quirk Gallery Richmond located at 209 W Broad St. This show will be on view and on our exhibitions page through March 4th, 2023. The reception event is open to the public and free to attend.
